Review: Tim Deluxe – ‘Freedom’ EP (Skint)

British DJ/producer Tim Deluxe is no stranger to the top of the charts. In his teens Deluxe co-penned Double 99’s speed-garage classic “RIP Groove,” and he’s been on a tear ever since. After going solo, he scored two massive vocal-house anthems in the ’00s, “It Just Won’t Do” and “Less Talk, More Action.” As his global profile has significantly increased, his array of dance floor-oriented productions continue to push the envelope. The Freedom EP finds Deluxe diving back to the underground with two provocative tracks. “Freedom” brandishes a nifty uptempo groove that’s founded on an array of piano and keyboard melodies and a compelling male vocal sample. “Sawubunga” is a dark, techy number on the Detroit tip; its sinister strings could probably scare The Joker into quitting his life of crime. It’s a safe bet that both tracks will be deep in the mix at this year’s Winter Music Conference.
