Christina Aguilera takes on T.I. in new track 'Castle Walls' - listen to the premiere now!

Oh, Christina.

Life just hasn't been what we all expected for our little genie in a bottle, has it?

After countless (this is a lie, we could easily count them but cannot be bothered) hit singles and albums, her last LP straggled into the public consciousness already saddled with an "EPIC FLOP" metatag.  And, sadly, on the flop front it did not disappoint.  Not content to reject ONLY HER ALBUMS, the public decided that even her individual tracks should be shunned like a leper in a steamroom.  Singles wise, she hasn't troubled the top 20 since 2008, and her last track didn't even dent the HOT 100.

Then came 'Burlesque,' her 'Showgirls' wannabe film debut currently being laughed out of theaters, and a host of bad reviews that placed much of the blame on Xtina's shoulders.  Sure the gays love it, but the gays love anything shiny these days - doubly so if Cher is somehow involved.

So what's a down and out bottle-blonde to do when her career goes tits-up?  Yeah, you guessed it.  Duet with a rapper.

Here's her knockoff of 'Love The Way You Lie' or 'Empire State of Mind' or any other generic heartwrenching-but-not-really rap/vocal collaboration, featuring the GENIUS AND ELOQUENT WORDSMITHING of a fresh-from-Federal Prison T.I.

Kylie wants to 'Let It Snow' in brand new track - listen to the PREMIERE now!

As we all lolled about in tryptophan comas and ran frantically on treadmills in a vain attempt to work off the full-fat Cool Whip we ate straight from the tub over Thanksgiving break, Kylie performed atop some ducks in the Macy's Parade and readied her brand new holiday track 'Let It Snow.'  A track that, luckily for us, can be previewed RIGHT NOW.

A word of caution though, this link comes to us from Perez Hilton, and we cannot promise that your viewing of it will not support his site/evil cause/bileous plot to overthrow the world by punching one Black Eyed Pea at a time.  Why Kylie has decided to give him the exclusive no one will ever know, but whatever, it's done and it's the holidays so we should be filled with the spirit of FORGIVENESS and FESTIVE TIDINGS and all that bullshit.

'Let It Snow' is a jazzy little holiday tune that (wisely) sidesteps the tendency for artists to try and make Christmas very NOW and TRENDY (see: Mariah/Christina/N*Sync/the inevitable Glee debacle that is sure to come) and will slide in nicely alongside her 'Santa Baby' to become a perennial classic.

Our only complaint is that it for no reason is not the b-side to her new single 'Better Than Today.'  If there ever was a way to boost its sales, this would be it. 'Let it Snow' is available from iTunes starting next week.

Black Eyed Peas' crap new song gets a crap new video - watch the premiere now!

And suddenly Fergie realized she was at the wrong Quinceanera
Alright, we all know the new BEP track is a steaming, lowbrow amalgamation of everything mediocre in this world.  So, coming from a group once known for their ground-breaking jams, you'd think they'd at least try extra hard to make a super great video for 'The Time', wouldn't you?

Well, they didn't.

The musical collective - who are fast becoming the Old Navy of pop music - have decided to do the ABSOLUTE LEAST AMOUNT OF WORK POSSIBLE in creating the clip, and mostly just mouth things at the screen while walking through streets/clubs/other places Snooki probably hangs out, and then have GROUNDBREAKING VISUAL EFFECTS layered on top of them by other people who specialize in that sort of thing.

In all honesty the pixel thing is pretty cool, but it's nothing we haven't seen before and certainly can't wash away the taste of pure evil that lingers in our ears every time we hear the song.  So to Fergie and the other people in the group who are not Fergie but wish they were, we would like to just say: either try harder or don't bother.

"See me after class" etc.

'The Time (Dirty Bit)' is off the BEP's new album 'The Beginning' (ironic, because they certainly are starting to sound like they are very much at THE END) which "drops" November 29.

April Previously it was mentioned at that time although this date has not been ascertained because of royal parties still have to consider various aspects first. Westminster Abbey was actually already on the list this pair and Kate also had a chance to review this location some time ago.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows First Part: Battle Against Voldemort

Synopsis: Now the time has come for Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) to carry out their noble mission: seek and destroy key strengths Voldemort (Fiennes Ralph). Three of them did not have much time because Voldemort had planned burn wars that had always feared.

This time the three friends must fend for themselves because there is no longer Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) who would escort the three of them. In this dangerous trip Harry was accidentally discovered an ancient secret: the legend of the Deathly Hallows. If the legend is true then this will give the ancient story of Voldemort's forces during the time he dreamed.

At the same time, war was inevitable. Send Death Eaters Voldemort to take over Hogwarts. Death Eaters not only the assigned master of Hogwarts but also looking for Harry Potter, and handed him alive in Voldemort. Now it was time for Harry Potter to fulfill his destiny as the chosen.

ReviewHarry Potter is Daniel Radcliffe. Hermione Granger is Emma Watson. Ron Weasley is Rupert Grint. No denying it when the three actors / actresses it's been synonymous with the characters they played since almost ten years ago. That fact alone makes HARRY POTTER AND THE Deathly Hallows first part of this win on paper. A decade had three of them accompanied us a long time and it has carved out a very strong impression in the mind of spectators.

Harry Potter series is already close to finished. One film after another and had this fantasy story. Maybe this fact is also what makes this movie so more special than previous sections. But wait. So sentimental was allowed but somehow the film still has a value that still can not be ruled out. From the visual side, obviously there was nothing to fear from this film. As usual, fantastic scenes can be made as realistic as if it really happened but of course not the only problem.

Problem storyline does not need a lot of mention because his novel was published version first and it's inappropriate if we underestimate the results by JK Rowling that have been awarded everywhere. Anyway, this film is also almost exactly the same version of his book even though there is little extra that is not so significant. What is clear, the decision 'split' into two parts this is the right decision because it felt it would be difficult if you have to compress all the plots and subplots into a movie. So this is not just a marketing trick to rake in more money.

If the script is fine and visual no doubt, the latter was acting their supporters. And on this side were once again this movie did not disappoint. Apart from perhaps each actor / actress have understood correctly by the characters they played, the interference director David Yates, in turn this paper would not be underestimated. In short, the first part dai HARRY POTTER AND THE Deathly Hallows is not only worthy of a scraper of dollars but also an entertaining film despite the dark nuances of this section more than the previous films.

Who wants to see Miley embarass herself in front of millions? We thought so - watch now!

Miley and a pal shortly after switching outfits
We here at ScopiSat are generally positive and uplifting people.  It is not in our nature to revel in the misfortune of others, even when they bring it on themselves by wearing RIDICULOUS THINGS AND BLEETING LIKE A SHEEP INTO A MICROPHONE.

So, having said that, here are some good things about the Miley Cyrus performance of her new death dirge 'Forgiveness and Love':

1.  Her hair didn't look as horrible as it has in the past.

2.  By recycling a burial shroud BEAUTIFUL GOWN from the late 19th century she set a fine example for the youth of America, leading the charge in the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" campaign.

3.  There wasn't a stripper pole in sight, although we're sure in a pinch any one of those candelabras could be straddled and ground against - which in retrospect really could have taken this performance to the next level.

4.  The performance provided temporary employment to a number of live musicians, and in these economic times that is truly something to be applauded.

5.  Clocking in at a measly 3:25 the whole debacle could have been dragged out much, much longer.

THE END.

87: The Self-Empowered Woman: Saudi Women/Sports

Dear Followers,

Thanks to Katherine Zoepf of the New York Times, I've learned about an issue that should be of interest to all of us who took sports and physical activity for granted as just another unremarkable part of life as an American woman.

The girl wearing a green jacket is Dalma Malhas, an 18 year-old Saudi Arabian equestrian who recently won a bronze medal in show jumping at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. What makes this achievement noteworthy is that she had to enter the competition on her own and pay her own expenses. Malhas is the first Saudi woman to ever compete in an international event.

Physical activity is forbidden in Saudi Arabia's state-run girls' schools, and conservative Muslims consider sports for women either immodest or (potentially) immoral. A few large Saudi cities have gyms where women can workout, but they are usually unmarked to avoid attention.

So here comes the kicker. Saudi Arabia (like Brunei and Qatar) does not permit women to compete in international athletic competitions, which means no women can be part of the Olympic Games.

The man pictured above is Ali al-Ahmed, a Saudi dissident, who directs the Institute for Gulf Affairs in Washington, D.C.. Three months ago, he began a campaign called No Women, No Play, with the goal of urging the IOC (International Olympic Committee) to suspend Saudi Arabia from future competitions until women are allowed to participate.

Critics might consider this a case of feminism gone wild, but the precedent was set in 1964, when the IOC banned South Africa because of apartheid. The Olympic Charter states, "... sport is a human right..." and "... discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic movement."

The woman in white is Lina al-Maeena, who founded a growing and very popular women's basketball team named Jeddah United. But whether or not liberal Saudis approve of gyms for females, the fact is that Saudi Arabia is a monarchy in which the king and a Salafist religious establishment create the laws. Unfortunately, most of the clerics oppose sports for women because it's felt that athletic females might a) wear immodest clothes, b) want to travel, c) compete in public, d) leave their homes unnecessarily, and (if virgins) e) damage their hymens and become unmarriageable.

Ms. Maeena has tried to put a good face on her country's restrictive approach by arguing that the U.S. didn't give women "equal rights" in sports until Title IX passed in 1972. And while that "equality" changed academic sports, the truth is that American women had been participating in sports and competing in the Olympics decades earlier.

How lucky we are that our grandmothers and granddaughters were and are able to play tennis, golf, ride, run, and compete without fear of government reprisal. Hats off to Dalma Malhas!

Looking forward to your comments...

The Kylie onslaught continues - watch the premiere of 'Better Than Today' now!

ScopiSat is of the opinion that 'Better Than Today' is VERY GOOD, and is, in fact, the best choice the K-Mo folks could have made to put the pop princess back on top after the disappointing chart run of 'Get Outta My Way.'  Others - namely die-hard Kylie fans - disagree, but perhaps this shiny new video will silence some of that discontent.

They certainly didn't blow the budget on this one, but somehow it still manages to come off looking less thrown together than 'Get Outta My Way' did, and is the most "Kylie" a Kylie video has been in ages.

It's also a world better than yesterday's debut of the video for her Taio Cruz duet 'Higher,' which isn't horrible but is essentailly one long BMW advert.

Anyway, here is 'Better Than Today' in all its Pac Man pop goodness:

The new Taio/Kylie video is one big, moody BMW ad - watch the premiere now!

"If we just keep smiling they'll never know which one of us farted"
Let's just get this out of the way - this song ('Higher') isn't particularly great or groundbreaking, and the video is even less so.  But each are still far more than adequate, and all parties involved should be very proud for managing to look airbrushed without LOOKING AIRBRUSHED.

As we've said before, though, average Kylie equates to above average anyone else, so we're not complaining.

Having established the foregoing, we are left with the burning question of EXACTLY HOW MUCH MONEY BMW paid for this spot.  Our guess is in the mid-six-figures, but we could be way off the mark.

We also should note that Taio and Kylie never actually touch or really interact, because while the Taio/K-mo track will be released worldwide (it's already topping charts in Australia), the U.S. version (not North American - Canada is getting Kylie too, leaving the U.S. the only odd man out) will feature something called a Travie McCoy whom we just found out is not a woman.  Presumably, then, the video will be re-cut to include the Travie thing in place of Kylie, but - and again we're presuming - doing different things than Kylie so the video doesn't seem GAY which would be TERRIBLE.

The Kylie version is out worldwide January 16

EDIT:  does anyone else feel like they were building up to a BIG EPIC DANCE BREAK and then ran out of time and said 'eh, let's just throw some more shots of the cars in there instead'?

Palin: I Can Beat Obama in 2012

Conservative leaders who championed the Republican Party, Sarah Palin, will boast to beat Barack Obama in the United States presidential election 2012. This assertion is well cast light on the U.S. public itself would be ahead in the presidential nomination.

Former Alaska governor said on ABC Newsdia this serious step. "I see the current conditions, trying to describe it. If (the nomination) is good for this country, to a discourse of discourse, for my family, then this is a good thing," he said.

When asked whether he would be able to beat Obama - he's ahead in 2008 as the vice presidential nomination and lose - she said sure, "I believe it can."
Palin, Alaska governor to step down. Many states, he prepares to leave office because of the larger step: the White House. But until now, he's not willing to confirm.

Astronomy Experts Discover New Black Hole

A stellar explosion 30 years ago in nearby galaxies suspected of creating a new black hole, astronomers reported on Monday.

The observations made by infrared rays say supernova, dubbed SN 1979C is a black hole is formed, said a team of astronomers from the United States and Europe.

"If our assumptions are correct, it is the closest example for observation of the creation of a black hole," said an expert from the Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysics Center in Massachusetts, Daniel Patnaude, who led the study.

An amateur astronomer from Maryland, Gus Johnson, discovered a supernova in 1979 on the edge of a galaxy called M100, and other astronomers examine it after its discovery. Light and infrared rays from the fragments has taken over the past 50 million years to get to the earth with the light speed of 300,000 miles per second, or about 10 trillion miles per year.

Observation Center for NASA's Chandra Infra Rays, the European Space Agency XMM-Newton, and the Center of the German Rosat Observations have seen that it emits infrared rays stable source of light.
Infrared ray analysis supports the idea that the observed object is a black hole and it also will draw in the object that fell from a supernova or perhaps from a binary star, astronomers said.

The scientists believe that black holes can be created in several ways, in this case because a star which is about 20 times the mass of the Sun which will become a supernova and then explodes into some solid things that suck objects around them into the core of the black hole .

FREE DOWNLOAD of Florrie's new - and AMAZING - debut EP - listen now (and DL link)

This is what Florrie's head looks like while she is doing a shit.
Florrie, despite our never having heard anything by her til now, is already somewhat of a pop goddess in our minds and is such based mostly on several pictures we have seen of her looking QUITE FETCHING.  Well, we're happy to report that her photographs did not steer us wrong, for she is actually a little bit amazing, musically.

To be fair we kind of knew she would be going in, because she is the new Xenomania front-songstress, but it's still nice to have some solid confirmation.

As a sort of introduction to the pop masses, Florrie's people have chosen to chuck out an EP onto the interwebs for all to enjoy.  And by "all" we actually, for once, mean ALL, as the entire record is available for free from her website here

If you're not convinced by the fact that it is FREE, perhaps you will be convinced by the fact that it is, in large part, also AMAZING, as evidenced by the following:

Yes.  Very good indeed.

86: The Self-Empowered Woman: Taylor Swift

Dear Followers,

As I reviewed the last dozen or so posts, I noticed that there was (possibly) an overdose of women who were either foreign or older. So today's Self-Empowered Woman is 20 year-old American recording sensation Taylor Swift.

When she was only ten years old (2. An Early Sense of Direction), a computer repairman showed her how to play three chords on a guitar, and that inspired her to learn as much as she could about music. Soon after, she wrote her first song, "Lucky You."

At age eleven, she persuaded her parents to take her to Nashville because she wanted to get a record deal. She bravely showed a demo tape of her singing to recording companies (11. Risk Addiction), but even though she visited all of the label companies in town, she was rejected by every single one (13. More Than Meets the Eye).

At the age of twelve, she began playing the twelve-string guitar; writing songs and playing the guitar helped Swift cope with the pain of being bullied at school (5. Life is Not a Popularity Contest). Soon she was performing at Pennsylvania fairs and festivals.

When she was 14, her family moved to a Nashville suburb to help her chances of getting a recording deal. That year, she became the youngest staff songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Tree Publishing House. For her junior and senior years of high school she was home schooled. She received her diploma in 2008.

Not surprisingly, Swift has used her personal life as the basis for many of her wildly popular songs. Her romantic disappointments with Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, and John Mayer have become public knowledge (15. Forget About Prince Charming).

One can only imagine how much those other labels regret overlooking her early talent. Here are a few of her musical accomplishments:

  • Her 2008 album "Fearless" was the bestselling country album in digital history.

  • Swift was the first artist ever in the history of Nelsen SoundScan to have two different albums in the Top 10 year-end album chart.

  • She is the youngest artist in history to win the ACM Album of the Year Award.

  • She was also the youngest ever to win the Country Music Association Award for Entertainer of the Year (only six other women have won this honor).

  • Swift has sold more than 28 million digital tracks, as well as received three Gold Mobile Ringtones for the 14 million ringtones sold. She has sold more than 13 million albums worldwide.
  • She was the first country music artist to ever win a MTV Video Music Award.
  • Last year, Swift became the first female artist with the most Top 40 singles of the decade, surpassing Beyonce.
  • She made her acting debut in the movie Valentine's Day, and her song "Today Was a Fairytale" was on the movie's soundtrack.
  • Swift was on People magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People" list in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
  • According to Forbes, she is this year's twelfth most-powerful celebrity with earnings of $45 million.

Imagine what she'll have accomplished by the time she's 40! A big thank you to everyone for all the amazing birthday wishes.

Jessie J wants to 'Do It Like A Dude' - which is unfortunate, because most of the ones we know don't do it very well :(

Jessie J is a bit of an issue for us.  She's super good-looking and seems to have genuine talent (she co-wrote Miley's 'Party In The USA'), but she insists on putting out tuneless dated crap like 'Do It Like A Dude.'

This is the kind of unfortunate R&B style-over-substance unfortunateness that preceded, and arguably brought on, the pop renaissance, and certainly would have fit into the music landscape of the mid-2000's.

In a way us pop fans owe a debt to that time... it took the image-over-melody movement to its extreme, and drove the idea so far into the ground that it allowed pop, with all its hooks and earnestness, to come back with a vengeance.

But now, in the 20-teens, a track like this seems hopelessly out of place.  The song itself is essentially non-existent, instead letting the beats and sound effects do all the heavy lifting - which is odd, as she is quite an accomplished songwriter ('PARTY IN THE USfreakinA', PEOPLE).  Indeed, if someone were to attempt to remake 'Do It' in a different, more straightforward style (say, a rock or country cover), they would be left with little more than a terrifying mess resembling a not-very-gifted-five-year-old's poem.

It irks us, dear readers.

It keeps us awake at night.

It leaves us shaking our fists at the sky and screaming "WHY WOULD A MERCIFUL GOD ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN" while the camera pans up through falling rain, VERY DRAMATIC music plays, and the image turns sepia because that is what is done when something is meant to be MOODY.

Having said all that, it is unfortunately for all these same reasons that it will inevitably be huge and inescapable for the next year, after which it will disappear entirely until being resurrected by the "This Is 2010" special edition of the NOW series - which will by that time be delivered, Matrix-style, directly into neck-mounted USB drives - on which the track will feature not because it is a brilliant song, but because the royalty payment is so cheap.

The whole debacle is made all the more sad because her other tunes are actually quite listenable, and despite the rather intimidating (read: ACTUALLY FRIGHTENING) video below, Jessie herself seems like a perfectly decent person.  We're sure we'll be hearing more of her in the future, but you'll forgive us if we wait til the next single to jump on the Jessie J bandwagon.

Mel Gibson, Oksana Attend Court Hearing Los Angeles

Mel Gibson for the first time appear in court on Wednesday (10/11) to attend the hearing on custody of his daughter, who was a baby from its relationship with Oksana Grigorieva.

Academy Award-winning actor arrived at the courthouse in Los Angeles 10 minutes earlier than Oksana, a former girlfriend.

The trial was closed to the public, while Mel was not willing to talk to reporters who gathered outside the trial.

After a fight and split up, Mel and Oksana is now gaining custody of their minor daughter. The trial will again be held on 22 November.

Emma Watson Often Borrow Clothes To Red Carpet

Although a few moments ago, Emma Watson reported as the best dressed celebrities, even beating the queen Victoria Beckham's fashion, it turns out there's one little secret that may not be widely known.

As a celebrity, then there will be so many red carpet and premiere to be attended by Emma. The Hermione in the Harry Potter actor was also admitted that sometimes he did not have time to prepare the dress best.

The solution? Borrow!

"Sometimes I got the invitation just two days before the event there is not one dress was appropriate to be worn by a 14-year-old girl," said Emma share the experience that happened early in his career.

"I checked my closet and really nothing. Therefore, I often borrow clothes from my stepmother, or go to a wedding dress in Harrods department to borrow some," he concluded.

Robyn's 'Time Machine' is set to take over the world - listen to the premiere now!

We were discussing Robyn with one of our friends today, and the conversation went something like this:

Friend:  How is Robyn not bigger than Ke$ha?

ScopiSat:  Totes - her teeth are jacked but at least she showers.

THE END

Well, if Robyn's brand new track 'Time Machine' doesn't finally put The Unwashed One in her place once and for all, nothing will, because it's pretty effing brilliant.

Robyn first burst onto the global pop scene with Max Martin-penned jams like 'Show Me Love' and 'Do You Know (What It Takes)' all the way back in 1995.  And just in case you wanted our opinion on those, it is summed up by a word that starts with A and ends with G and is AMAZING.

Now, 14 (FOURTEEN) years later, Robyn has come full circle and has teamed up with Max Martin again.  Martin has found the kind of longevity, hits, and success that most songwriters only dream of, and Robyn's renaissance has been nothing less than spectacular, so you'll forgive us if we expected quite a lot out of their new collaboration.  In fact, this pairing seems like a Paula Deen butter-covered recipe for disaster, simply because pop fans' expectations will surely be high, but at times like these all we can really do is sit back, hit play, and pray for the best.

And THAT, ScopiSubjects, is how you do a pop song.

This LITERALLY EPIC tune is out on Robyn's 'Body Talk' LP on Nov 22 and is slated to be a North American single soon.

The next big thing is here, and her name is Kimberly Nichole - watch now!

Miss Nichole burps the alphabet
In this world where "the next big thing" is already old by the time it shows up on the interwebs, it's refreshing to come across a truly underground (seriously, this video is from a basement somewhere in Atlanta) talent poised to burst like a glittery, self-assured firecracker onto the scene.  Her name is Kimberly Nichole, and she's kind of (read: actually) amazing.

She's Janelle Monae with more of an edge, and rocks outlandish fashion that, unlike Gaga's, is entirely eccentric while completely wearable.  Poised to be one of the big splashes in 2011, she's been written up by MTV, BET, the Washington Post, and even receives a rave review in December's Vogue.  And it's probably good that everyone seems to have generally positive things about the young starlet, as we get the distinct feeling that she would have little to no problem "cutting a bitch."

Check out her live cover of 'Crazy,' and tell us you're not just a little bit excited about what the future holds:

Kylie kills it on The X Factor - watch her debut of 'Better Than Today' now!

Kylie ingests her carbs for the year
If there's one thing that the relative failure of 'Get Outta My Way' in the UK (and oddly, its building success in the United States) has taught us, it's that there is a big difference between slick and soulless Kylie and bubbly personality-driven Kylie.  'Outta' was certainly the former, and was rejected as a bit generic and throw-away by the European public, who expect a little something more from their pop princess.  The US, on the other hand, just wants a good dance jam, and could care less about a back story.

It seems K-mo's people have finally caught on as well, because tonight's performance of new single 'Better Than Today' on The X Factor was everything it needed to be to put Miss Minogue back on top in her adopted homeland.  High concept (Pac Man - amazing) but also real, it had energy, neon, some ridiculous hats and miles of leg.  In short, it was pure Kylie all the way.

The entire performance is lifted from her US mini tour, bubbles over with energy and personality and features a near-miss with falling on her ass.  In short, well worth the watch.

'Better Than Today' is out now as an album download, and out Dec 7 as a single.

Gebremariam Wins New York City Marathon 2010

Gebre Gebremariam of Ethiopia, in his first ever marathon, is the winner of the 2010 ING New York City Marathon in an unofficial time of 2:08:14. If you're wondering, that's an average pace of 4:53 per mile. For 26.2 miles.

It's the fastest time since Rodgers Rop turned in a 2:08:07 in 2002. Gebremariam becomes the first debutant to win the race since American Alberto Salazar accomplished the feat in 1980.
Kenya's Emmanuel Mutai, the 2010 London Marathon runner-up, finished second, in 2:09:17. Mutai was the aggressor in the second half of the race, but when Gebremariam kicked in Central Park, Mutai just could not keep up.

Kigen Kipkosgei of Kenya crossed the finish line in third place, with a time of 2:10:39.
American Meb Keflezighi, the 2009 NYC Marathon champion, the first American to win since 1982, was dropped around Mile 21 and finished sixth (2:11:30).

As dramatic an accomplishment as Keflezighi had for the United States last year, this year’s men’s marathon belonged to Ethiopia.

By Saturday night, the buzz had begun among the men’s professional field that Gebrselassie’s knee was not in good shape. He was getting it worked on, two coaches noted, but whether that was strategy or reality was yet unclear.

Gebrselassie made it clear on his Twitter feed right before the race, announcing that he had inflammation in the knee after the long flight from Addis Ababa. Officials for the New York Road Runners announced during the race that Gebrselassie had a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Saturday, which showed fluid in his knee.
From the very beginning, this was not the same Gebrselassie who owns the world record of 2:03:59. He came off the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge tucked into a large lead pack, having run a very slow opening mile — 5:55. He said before the race that he was going to sit back and watch, and apparently the rest of the pack decided to do that in the early miles.

But by the time the runners hit the Queensboro Bridge, Gebremariam moved out in front with a small pack of four runners. It was then that Gebrselassie started drifting to the side of the bridge, on the downhill slope that could have been a metaphor for his career.
He stopped before he even made it to Manhattan. On the delirious First Avenue, flanked by the largest, wildest-cheering crowds on the course, Gebremariam joined a group of four: James Kwambai of Kenya, Mutai and Abderrahime Bouramdane of Morocco.

Only Mutai and Gebremariam were left in the lead by the time they entered Central Park in the 24th mile. Gebremariam had already won here this year — in the Healthy Kidney 10-kilometer race in May. The finish line was the same as for the marathon, the perfect warm-up for an even more celebrated victory six months later.

Emma Watson claim could not do the kissing scene seriously .

Emma Watson admitted nervous when I had to do the kissing scene with co-star in the movie 'Harry Potter', Rupert Grint. He claimed could not stop holding her laughter when doing the kissing scene.
In the film which tells about the magic that, Watson and Grint who plays Ron and Hermione had to do kissing scenes in the filming of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'. He claimed they were making out scene that requires it to be very strange situation.
"We have problems because the laughs continue. We both laughed. We can not be serious," Watson said as quoted by Showbizspy, Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
From his role in the film, Watson became a millionaire. Its revenue during the nine years of starring in the film is around 20 million pounds. He claimed to know the amount of shock when the money is. Watson was also confused and have no idea what he will use the money.

85: The Self-Empowered Woman: Dilma Rousseff

Dear Followers,

Now that our American election fever is over (for a little while) I thought that today I would introduce you to Brazil's first-ever female president. Dilma Vana Rousseff (who was born on December 14th, 1947) is the daughter of a Bulgarian immigrant; her father had been an active member of the Bulgarian Communist Party in the 1920s. He moved to Brazil to escape political persecution, and became financially successful. He married Dilma Jane Silva, a schoolteacher, and they had three children, but he died when Dilma Vana was only 15 (1. No Paternal Safety Net).

The new President of Brazil (which has the seventh-largest economy in the world) received her early education at a Catholic (3. Belief in the Unbelievable) boarding school, where the students and nuns primarily spoke French. After her father's death, the teen aged Rousseff went to the Central State High School where she became more aware of politics and realized that "The world was not a place for debutantes." This is where she first became interested in The Worker's Politics Organization (POLOP), and became opposed to Brazil's dictatorship (2. An Early Sense of Direction).

Rousseff became so involved with politics that the authorities gave her several nicknames: "The Joan of Arc of Subversion," "Political Criminal,"
"Female Figure of Sadly Notable Aspect," and "the She-Pope of Subversion." Obviously, such name-calling didn't upset her (5. Life Is Not a Popularity Contest).

In 1968, she married Claudio Galenao Linhares, a political activist five years her senior. Two years later, he was arrested; she was captured by the authorities, sentenced to six years in prison, and her political rights were suspended for 18 years. During her time in prison, she was tortured for several weeks with punching, ferule, and electric shock devices (12. Hard Times).

She was released from jail in 1972, but was barred from continuing her university studies the next year. Ultimately, she applied to the Rio Grande do Sul Federal University, where she majored in economics and graduated in 1977. In addition to politics and economics, Rousseff is an opera lover (9. Music).

Her first marriage (in 1968) ended with an amicable divorce in 1981, but she used her first husband's name until 1999, when she reverted to her maiden name. Her second (common law) marriage was to Carlos Araujo, even though he had an affair with actress and fellow militant Bete Mendes, he and Rousseff had a daughter, Paula Rousseff Araujo, who was born in 1976. In 1994, Rousseff found that another woman was pregnant with Araujo's child (15. Forget About Prince Charming); Rousseff and Araujo separated, but later reconciled. They remained together until 2000, when she left.

Politically, Rousseff had served as Brazil's Energy Minister and was chosen by former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Lula) to be his Chief of Staff, the first female to hold that position. Many believe that his support helped her win last month's election.

In 2009, Rousseff disclosed that she was battling Lymphatic System Cancer, and she also suffered from Myopathy as a result of the cancer treatment. During much of her campaign, she wore a wig due to chemotherapy-related hair loss. The story of a former left-wing, urban guerrilla who has risen to become her country's (first female) leader is a stirring one.

Amy Winehouse is back and still very very drunk - listen to 'It's My Party' now!

If we had to guess what a track by our batshit-crazy grandma, recorded after a few too many of her "nervous pills" would sound like, this would be it.  Unfortunately, our grandma doesn't have a record deal and this is actually a song sung by 27 year old Amy I'm-not-on-drugs-anymore-except-I-totally-am Winehouse:

'It's My Party' will feature on Quincy Jones' new record 'Q: Soul Bossa Nostra' out November 9, and if we're lucky Quincy will put some of the sales proceeds toward getting Winebox to a recovery facility pretty damn quick.

Daniel Radcliffe, More Famous For Getting Shunned by Girls

It was difficult to accept this statement but it seems Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel really believes what he says it. Maybe that's why he is more often than singles to have a boyfriend. Fortunately it did not make the cast of Harry Potter have stepped up feeling desperate.

"This type of girl that I like would have to choose someone else because I'm popular," said Daniel Radcliffe with confidence as quoted from Splash News. Ah, it turns out it is Daniel. So in fact there are many girls who want to be Daniel Radcliffe's girlfriend, but he chose to resign because it did not fit with his ideal type of girl.

Furthermore Daniel Radcliffe also said if he was still optimistic and let things go naturally. "People think if we're famous we'd be a cool person. Usually, I do have a boyfriend but now it's not. We'll see what happens," she added. To be sure, the end of the Harry Potter series does not make Daniel Radcliffe faded popularity. Evidence to date there have been two movies besides Harry Potter title is put his name as an actor.

Christina Aguilera Was Paid U.S. $ 1 Million For One Show

Wow! U.S. $ 1 million! Not a small number especially when this performance lasted no more than an hour. Whether true or not but many have dared to make sure if Christina Aguilera was paid U.S. $ 1 million to appear for an hour in an event held by the right Halloween night yesterday.
According to a news reported by Splash News, Christina Aguilera was asked to perform at a Halloween party held Charles Brandes, a famous expert's investment. Charles Brandes held a party this year in San Diego and as the primary viewer that night was Christina Aguilera who has just released an album entitled Bionic in June.
If this figure is true then it means that Christina Aguilera was paid about U.S. $ 16,666 for every minute of it. It is included to make-up and the cost of others. Unfortunately the news is ignored by the party associated with this party stating that Christina is paid no more than U.S. $ 500 thousand. Unfortunately, many sources close to Christina said that the rate of U.S. $ 1 million is not just a figment.
