Way to Join Halloween in New York – You need to attend the annual Halloween Parade in New York City (NYC) if you want to celebrate Halloween this October 31, 2010 with a huge crowd of people and flaunt your scary and unique Halloween costumes . There will be two parades in NYC in celebration of Halloween – New York’s Village Halloween Parade and Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade.
The New York’s Village Halloween Parade will be held on the 6th Avenue from Spring Street to 15th Street from 7 to 10:30pm. The parade features hundreds of puppets, 53 bands of different types of music, dancers and artists, and thousands of other New Yorkers in Halloween costumes. The theme for this year’s parade is “Memento Mori” meaning Remembrance of Death and will be hosted by Haitian Carnival Artist and Painter DIDIER CIVIL.
For all those who wants to participate in this Halloween parade wearing their respective Halloween costumes, the line up is on 6th Avenue south of Spring Street and North of Canal between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The parade will be covered on TV by WPIX Channel 11 from 7-10 pm and NY1 from 8-9:30 pm.
The second parade will be that of Park Slope Civic Council made specifically for children. The parade kicks off at 6:30 pm which will begin at Seventh Avenue and 14th Street and continues up to Seventh, turns left on Third Street, and ends at the Old Stone House, where the revelry will continue until 9 p.m.
Before this parade, there will be a Halloween costume contest in front of the Secondary School for Law, Journalism, and Research, Seventh Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Streets. For all those who wants to participate in the contest, registration is from 3pm to 4pm. Winners of the contest will be given banners to display in the parade.
