It was to everyone's delight that the 22 year old was announced winner of 2.5 million naira, a fully loaded Toyota RAV 4 jeep and a recording deal worth millions of naira. The competition which has kept viewers glued to their TV set for 10 weeks was down to six finalists - Ethel, Ruth, Yvonne, Roy, Ese and Monica came down to its final four this weekend, Sunday, December 18,
2011. Monica emerged winner and went home with the grand prize while Roy, the last man standing came out as the first runner up (1.5 million naira and a fully loaded Toyota Corolla car). Ese was the second
runner up and went away with 1 million naira and a fully loaded Toyota Yaris and Ghanaian Ethel was the

 third runner up (one million naira). The final contestants also known as the "Sensational Six" presented
two performances each during the show. They performed one of the memorable songs they had done earlier in the competition as well as their personal compositions.

Their music videos were premiered and sync ed with their stage performances. Monica stood out as she sang
2face Idibia's "Only me" and her own personal composition "Na You". "You have an amazing voice and you know how to connect with the audience with your voice and your body language. You have greatly
improved since you entered into the academy and you have evolved into a star…Weldone!" Kwame told Monica after her performances. "You always know how to put the perfect amount of energy and body
language into a song. You also know how to engage your audience in every song you perform and you have an amazing voice…you were definitely born to do this!" Ige said to Monica after her performance.

Speechless after being pronounced winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa season 4, Monica appreciated God, the Project fame Judges, Faculty and fans. "I am very grateful for all the love and training I
have received since I got into the academy. I feel very blessed and I promise not to let you all down."
The event was well attended by the cream-de-la-cream in the society and also had surprise guest performances by International R&B group, Dru Hill who thrilled the crowd with amazing songs from their old time album. Award-winning rave of the moment, Wizkid was also at the show and he pulled the house down with an exciting performance. Winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa season 3, Chidinma who launched her first album titled "Chidinma" on Saturday, December 17, 2011 on the Project Fame stage, also performed at the grand finale.

The other 11 contestants who got evicted during the competition were also present to support the final six contestants and show them love. Notable faces at the event include Member of the Federal House of
Representatives, Honorable Abike Dabiri who presented Monica with her prize, Mr Bola Akingbade (C.M.O, MTN Nigeria), Veteran Actor, Chief Olu Jacobs, international artiste, Leanne Lyons from R& B group,SWV(Sisters with Voices), Ayo Animashaun, Saint Obi, Omobaba among other guests.
MTN Project Fame West Africa which started in 2008 has produced some of Nigeria's rising stars and Monica has now joined the list of winners in Project Fame West Africa.

MTN Project Fame: Six Contestants on Probation

CONTESTANTS ON PROBATION

It was reggae night on Sunday November 27th where the remaining contestants had to sing their hearts out to escape probation but some were not so lucky enough to escape.

Gorgeous Ese started the evening beautifully with Bob Marley’s ‘Who the cap fits’ and Kwame was forced to pay for this flawless performance. Sassy Ruth got everyone yearning for more with her electrifying performance of Bob Marley’s ‘Buffalo Soldier’. Dressed the part and with corresponding attitude she wowed everyone. Ghanaian Ethel also smoothly sang ‘Different Colours’ by Lucky Dube and then came soft spoken Rachael who with her high pitched tone sang Gregory Isaacs ‘Number One’.

Roy who is the last man standing did a good rendition of Black Uhuru’s ‘Guess Who’s coming to dinner’
and the judges were not so pleased with this performance. They expected so much from him that they felt his performance was way below standard, but everyone still encouraged him to slow down and be the magnetic Roy that started the competition. The judges felt Princess’ choice of song wasn't so good but they still applauded her courage with the smooth delivery of ‘Youth of the day’ by Musical Youth. Pretty Yvonne got into trouble with the judges when she performed Estelle’s ‘Bring it on’. The judges did not spare her at all and was sternly advised to be more professional next time.

Finally for the evening Monica in her usual diva attitude wowed everyone with Patra’s ‘Workerman’. Both the judges and faculty felt really proud of her; having re-written the lyrics of the song, she made it her own and did justice to this not-so-easy-to perform song.

After all said and done, Ruth and Monica were the only contestants who raised the bar with their performances and landing the other six contestants on probation. The stage is tougher now and the show hotter. These contestants are counting on your votes to make it through.

Not to forget, Roy is the last man standing in the house. Do you think he will make it to the finals? What do you think? This season of MTN project fame west Africa is getting hotter by the day. The ladies came prepared this season lol!

MTN Project Fame: Isaac and Velma out!

Ruth stole the show with her energetic and electrifying performance of Aretha Franklyn’s ‘Respect’ after Ethel and Isaac sang  Karyn White’s ‘Super Woman’ and Bill Wither’s ‘Just the two of us’ respectively. Roy upped the game with Barry White’s ‘My first, my last, my everything’, Ese did Mary J. Blige’s version Luther Vandross’ ‘A thousand Kisses’ and Velma, Abba’s ‘I have a dream’.

Ade Bantu, the international musician and producer was present as a guest judge. With his keen ears and eyes complemented our not-so-easy-to-please judges.

After six powerful but terse  performances, it was judgement time. Pretty Ethel again won the hearts of viewers at home; judges saved Roy, faculty after much deliberation saved Ruth.

Ese, Velma, and Isaac’s fate was now to be determined by the votes of the four contestants not on probation. While Isaac got just a vote, the three other votes were in favour of Ese. Leaving Velma and Isaac out.

For the last time on PF4 Velma performed 'Roots' and Isaac ‘Mercy’ by Mighty Diamonds as they ushered in tomorrow’s reggae nite.

MTN Project Fame: Six Contestants on Probation this Week!

 On Sunday, November 20, 2011, the ten contestants remaining in the academy took us down memory lane with back to back classic cuts. They opened the show with group performances and they featured the
PlayHouse Voices to back them up. Ethel, Monica, Ruth, Racheal and Isaac performed “Rivers Of Babylon” by Bonnie M. Yvonne, Velma, Ese, Roy and Princess also performed “Earth Song” by Micheal Jackson.
Each contestant soon entertained everyone with individual performances singing Classic songs from music icons like Aretha Franklyn, Barry White, Abba, Diana Ross among others. The audience, judges and
members of the faculty all had a feel of the rich intense performances.

“I must admit that I am very pleased to be here to experience tonight’s show. I have heard a lot of very strong and rich voices tonight and I must commend all of you for pleasing us with your performances.” Music Producer, Song writer and Singer, Cobhams who was the guest judge for the night admitted.

“Tonight we are going to be judging you on your notes and how well you interpreted the characters in the songs you performed. Some of you lost it along the way with flat notes here and there while some of you
did a very good job delivering your keys and entered your characters well so our judgement would be based on these key elements tonight.” Nomoreloss explained to the contestants.

The contestants on probation this week are Ethel, Velma, Ese, Ruth, Roy and Isaac so they have to do the extra work to impress the audience and the judges.

Contestants go down memory lane with Classical music…

On Saturday, November 19, 2011, the number of contestants at this year’s edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa was reduced from 13 to 10 contestants as Joba, Chidinma and Emmanuel were eliminated from the popular music talent competition.

The three contestants were among the seven contestants with the lowest votes put up for eviction last week. The other four contestants on probation were Roy, Racheal, Princess and Ruth.

As usual, after performances by the contestants on probation, the moment of truth came: the total number of votes from the viewing public saved Racheal. The judges decided to save Roy thereby extending
his run in the competition. Next up was the Faculty and after commending the contestants, they decided to save the eccentric Ruth based on her development in the academy. The contestants who were not
up for eviction then had the unpleasant job of saving only one of their fellow contestants and after a lot of tension, they decided to save Princess.

With Racheal, Roy, Ruth and Princess saved, it automatically meant that Joba, Chidinma and Emmanuel had been eliminated from the show. Taking it all in good stride, they showed their appreciation in taking
part in the competition and promised to storm the music industry soon enough.

Wande Coal later thrilled the audience as he closed the show with an amazing performance from his “Mushin to MoHits” album.

3 Contestants to Leave MTN Project Fame this Week

On Sunday, November 13, 2011, contestants from past editions of the MTN Project Fame West Africa competitions, Yetunde Orijah (Yetunde Omo Ibadan), Mike, Tolu Adesina and Chidinma Ekile opened the show with various singles that they have released since the competition.

The 13 contestants left in the academy later entertained the audience with good performances but the judges did not overlook the mistakes made by the contestants and did not hesitate to remind them that they were in a competition. “The competition just got tougher and we would now be judging your diction, key notes and your deliveries in the songs given to you. So we think you should focus more on your singing than on your performance so that you don’t compromise one for the other” TY Mix explains.

 “You all did well with your performances but we are looking for the best in you all. I believe some of you have gotten too comfortable in this competition that is why we, the judges have decided to put

seven people on probation today instead of the usual six to go on probation.” Kwame announces.

 “With this new development, three contestants would be sent home from the project fame academy instead of two contestants next week. By doing this, we believe that you all would realize that this is a competition and you have to fight to win the grand prize.” Kwame continues.

The contestants on probation this week are Emmanuel, Joba, Racheal, Roy, Princess, Chidinma and Ruth so these contestants have to impress the judges and the faculty to remain in the Project fame academy next week.

Elimination Show MTN Project Fame: Aziga and Zaliha out!

The tussle for the Project Fame West Africa grand prize is getting tougher by the minute as contestants in the MTN Project Fame Academy are taking their game several notches higher with each performance.

Last week, we saw Emmanuel, Zaliha, Princess, Aziga, Ethel and Isaac go on probation as they did not impress the judges. They had to sing the same songs that got them on probation last week to escape eviction.

On Saturday, November 12, 2011, MTN Project Fame West Africa decided to take the show out of the studio by going to the prestigious University of Lagos in Akoka and students were
thrilled to see members of the Project fame Academy Faculty along with the Judges.

At the end of the performances from the six contestants on probation, the judges confessed that the contestants had improved from last week. "There is a lot of improvement from what I have heard tonight and I must commend all of you for putting in the extra effort because you all came on stronger than your last performances.” an excited Bibie Brew exclaimed.

The highest number of votes from the audience soon saved Ethel then judges saved Isaac. The Faculty decided to save Princess because of the potential they see in her and the remaining contestants not on probation saved Emmanuel. This brought Aziga and Zaliha to the end of their journey in the Project Fame competition and they performed for the last time in the Project Fame West Africa competition.
