Following several weeks of media blitz about the biggest concert of the year, TOP10 MICS, fans have given the Friday, December 23rd concert a pass mark as it lived up to its billings. The concert which held at the famous Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos gave teeming fans something to cheer, laugh and a feeling the concert was worth every cent.

The concert paraded 10 of the best hands in the music industry, 2face Idibia, MI, Eldee, Mocheddah, Femi Kuti, Obesere, Sir Shina Peters, P Square, Wizkid and Duncan Mighty. The show started as early 7pm with many stars on the red carpet posing for the paparazzi.

Ace comedian, Ali Baba co-hosted the concert with the elegant presenter, Chioma from STV. Iconic DJ, Jimmy Jatt was the man on the wheel of steel at the concert and he proved to the audience the reason why he is still Nigeria’s most sought after disc jockey.

 To keep the audience entertained, the Son of the music legend, Ebenezer Obey, Tolu, thrilled all present with some of his father’s tunes and this was more than welcomed by the crowd as they danced to the rhythm, other up and coming music acts followed after the performance of Tolu Obey.

Soon after,  Mocheddah opened the TOP10 MICS concert officially with her hit track ‘’loke loke’’ to the delight of many, she also performed other tracks off her album. Sir Shina Peters held the crowd spellbound when he performed some of his old tracks and the crowd sang along with him he performed songs from his ‘’Ace’’ album, which was a massive hit years ago.

Duncan Mighty, who wore a grey color blazer on stage performed ‘’Obianuju’’ and ‘’Port harcourt boy’’ to the delight of the audience. Wizkid gave a ‘’Grammy’’ performance with his hit track ‘’I love my baby’’, pakurumo among others. The Okoye Brothers, P square wowed the crowd with the hit ‘’chop my money’’, ‘’Ifunaya’’ and others. Abass Obesere and his dancers gave the crowd something to think about when he performed.   

In between these performances, the delectable A-list actress and songstress, Stella Damasus gave a stellar performance with choir-like backup singers to sing Christmas carol songs in the spirit of the season.

Grammy nominee, Femi Kuti didn’t disappoint his fans as he took them way back with his tunes; it was also a moment to celebrate his third Grammy nomination with his teeming fans. Hypertek headliner, Tuface Idibia did his piece by implicating the crowd with his award winning track ‘’Implication’’. Trybesmen boss, Eldee closed the concert but not after he had performed ‘’today’’ and ‘’wash’’, his newly released singles which are currently enjoying massive air plays.

The twitter handle of the concert @koga_top10mics was bombarded with tweets concerning the biggest concert of the year 2011 as fans voiced their utmost satisfaction about the Friday, December 23rd event.

Speaking on the concert an official of KOGA Entertainment, Anu Awoseyi, the brain behind the TOP10 MICS concert said ‘’we appreciate the fans that thronged the venue in their thousands and we want to reiterate that this will be a yearly event as that of year 2012 will be bigger and better than this and to the reputable organizations that supported this concert, we can’t thank you enough’’.

Top 10mics pre party concert holds at Swe Bar

Upscale hangout and celebrities favourite Swe Bar will be hosting the 10 headliners of the much talked about concert of the year Top 10 MICS at a pre concert party on saturday 10th of December. The pre party concert is for friends, partners and strictly for the selected few to party, mingle, and dance exclusively to the songs of the 10 artistes on parade for the December 23rd concert.

The pre party concert will have the 10 artistes, industry stakeholders, media partners and lucky winners on twitter and via radio programme in attendance. Invited guests to the pre party concert will be selected via online promos and radio jingles.
Meanwhile ace comedian Ali Baba has been announced as the host for the night. Ali Baba who over the years

Meanwhile Koga Entertainment the brain behind the concert has assured that there will be no security concern as necessary steps are being taken to forestall any security breach.Also the gate fee for the concert has also been released; regular two thousand (2000naira), and three thousand naira (3000naira) at the gate on the day of the concert and ten thousand (10,000naira) for VIP.

It has been weeks of high suspense, waiting, guessing, prediction and race to win array of prizes KOGA Entertainment put up as giveaways for those who correctly guess names of the remaining five artistes that will perform at the highly anticipated concert of 2011, the TOP10 MICS.
It would be recalled that on September 9, 2011, KOGA Entertainment, one of the fastest emerging giants in the entertainment industry, released five out of 10 artistes that will be performing at the highly anticipated concert of the year come December 23 at TBS, Lagos. The five acts are African queen crooner, 2face Idibia, rapper, MI, Afro juju creator, Sir Shina Peters, Paramount King of Fuji, Obesere and Trybesmen honcho, Eldee.

In a bid to engage the general public, KOGA Entertainment asked people to predict the remaining five artistes and win blackberry phones, mini laptops, TV sets and designer wears from Shakara Clothing. Thus, the race began, the competition ended last week Friday with no one getting the prediction right.
‘’ The weeks of the predictions were the most exciting weeks at Bigsam Media. Some people came close
with their predictions, some had depths, some were funny while others were completely way off mark. We thank the people for participating and hope they will win gifts in the competition that will still follow this campaign’’. 
However, KOGA Entertainment has revealed the identity of the five remaining artistes that will be performing alongside 2face Idibia, Eldee, Sir Shina Peters, M.I and Obesere.
Emerging Afro beat legend, Femi Kuti, will be leading the new generation artistes which includes Port Harcourt’s first son, Duncan Mighty, youngster, Whizkid, female singer, Mocheddah and the Okoye twins, P-Square in the concert that has been tagged the concert of the people, by the people and for the people.
So, come December 23rd, at the expansive venue, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, TOP 10 MICS concert will parade 10 leading lights in the Nigerian music industry namely 2face, Femi Kuti, Eldee Tha Don, Sir Shina Peters, MI, Duncan Mighty, Mochedah, P-Square, Obesere and Whizkid.
In a concert that is akin to an eclectic collection of different genres of music ranging from hip hop to RnB, afro beat, juju, dancehall, pop, highlife and others.
  Koga Entertainment is staging a concert that has something for everyone. It is a departure from what is obtainable in concerts in Nigerian entertainment industry as most concerts only carter for hip hop and youth market.

‘ We are doing Top10 MICS for many reasons, long before now, some of us who are old enough still have memories of Lekki Sun Splash and other concerts at open venues where people enjoyed themselves, feel safe and look forward to the next edition. We are trying to recreate the memory of good old days with the infusion of contemporary offerings. Aside this, we are also trying to create a concert where everybody will have a sense of belonging. We are tired of events where only hip hop audience would be catered for. We want an event where fans of different genres of music could mix and experience the thrill of live performances of leading lights in different genres.
Aside these two reasons, we figured that fans of these artistes are the people on the street who cannot afford to pay the exorbitant amount some concerts charge and just like people have tagged Top 10 MICS, ’ it is a concert of the people, for the people and by the people’. We are trying to bridge the gap between the public and the stars at a venue where they can afford, enjoy themselves and be safe” Anu Awoseyi an official of Koga Entertainment said.

 On security challenge Anu assured that it has been sorted as top security outfit has been engaged to provide security “we are using The Experience Concert Model as it is common knowledge that no single case of theft, injury, harassment has been reported since the concert started years back. So we are assuring the general public that safety of life and property will not be an issue as we’ve got all that covered.
