Natalia Kills is going to 'Kill My Boyfriend' - listen now!

This is what the cover of a very good album looks like
Natalia Kills is like Gaga back when she had fun doing what she does.  Which is exactly why we love her.  Also she's British, and if Girls Aloud and Sophie Ellis Bextor have taught us anything it's that when it comes to pop, BRITISH IS ALWAYS BETTER.

She's been putzing around her homeland for a good few months, building up quite a buzz, and now has her sights set on the US market.  While her debut LP 'Perfectionist' is already out in a few European territories, the BIG MOMENT comes today when it's released in the US and UK, with a few new tracks to boot.  Amazing new tracks.  Like this one:

Natalia Kills - Kill My Boyfriend [Preview] by CherrytreeRecords

It is called 'Kill My Boyfriend' and is about killing Natalia's boyfriend.  And it is VERY GOOD.  Here are three examples of why:

1.  It is happy and jolly but about KILLING SOMEONE
2.  There's a part that just repeats "kill, kill, kill" over again
3.  It was written with Junior Caldera, who has done some very good things for some other very good people, but either hasn't killed anyone or is VERY GOOD at it because he hasn't been caught.

And that's that.

The album's out TODAY in the US.

The new Natalia Kills/Will.i.am video is like an AMAZING VERSION OF LADY GAGA but not pretentious or preachy. But a lot like Gaga. Like, a lot.

One certainly is fierce, isn't one.
As Lady Gaga continues her descent down the Lauper ladder of ridiculousness and unsustainability, the scramble is on to find the NEXT BIG THING.  Most of the people who are "in the know" figure that thing will be a little lady by the name of Natalia Kills, who has yet to find success despite being quite hotly tipped.  Like, she had a hit in Germany for two seconds, but so did Kazaky and JEdward so that's not really something you want to Twitter blast.

The long and the short of it is she's basically Lady Gaga but British and less preachy.  And her new song is amazing.  It's - in keeping with a theme, apparently - just like Gaga used to be before she decided she was Born This Way with horns and shit.  The video for 'Free' is a little spectacular too.  Natalia looks like a methed-out extra from 'Wicked,' and there are words on the screen every so often so you know it's classy. Also there are some shots of people sticking shoes down their panties.

As you do.

The track also features Will.i.am for absolutely no reason, saying ridiculous things for absolutely no reason, and sort of lurching around the video for absolutely - wait for it - no reason.

AS YOU DO.

Natalia Kills is in a 'Wonderland' - watch the premiere now!

"do I have something on my face?"
Ok so Natalia Kills is kind of useless in terms of where she fits in on the music landscape, but that doesn't mean she's not good.  Yeah she sounds like Rihanna and looks like what would happen if Katy Perry grew a penis and impregnated Lily Allen, but beneath all the similarities to every major pop act out there right now beats the heart of a pretty great performer.

Likewise, her new jam 'Wonderland' sounds like an amalgamation of a number of current or recent hits but actually boils down to what would happen if 'Disburbia' was ACTUALLY BETTER.  Which leads us to the up-until-now-unlikely conclusion that Miss Kills might pull this whole thing off after all.  And if she keeps putting out tunes like this we certainly hope she does.

As for the video, well, just watch for yourself.  But we will say that if we ever wake up screaming in a pool of our own pee it will probably be because of those goddamned rabbit masks.

"TERRIFYING BUT ALSO GOOD"

Far East Movement thinks '2 Is Better' with Natalia Kills

In 10 years this is what every Starbucks will look like
British songstress Natalia Kills is one of those artists that has been "up and coming" for a very long time.  So long, in fact, that we've begun to wonder when she'll just get it over with and COME but if history has taught us anything it's that all this junk is entirely unpredictable and our NEXT BIG POP STAR will probably be none of the hotly tipped youngsters we talk about, but rather an aging 3-legged dog from a former Soviet republic that howls along to Heidi Montag songs or something.

Or just Heidi Montag :(

Anyhoodle, despite not having a breakthrough hit yet, Natalia is still plugging away - this time with LA-based Far East Movement, who have a couple of rather large hits under their belt already.  The song is a gloriously hip electro affair, and the accompanying clip is equally SUPER-NOW and is probably the result of a focus group who decided that "DOWNTOWN GLAM-CLASH" or some other ridiculous term that actually means NOTHING was the aesthetic of the future and shot a whole video in a condemned Williamsburg warehouse without ever realizing that Lady Gaga already did this in 2009 after she ripped off all the kids who had been doing this since 2005.

But whatever it's still super good.

Natalia Kills is 'Free' in her new track - listen now!

I am a logo.
Dammit, Natalia, you're confusing the hell out of us.  First you release 'Mirrors,' a very adequate jam, only to follow it up with an ill-advised buzz track, the substantially less good (read: a bit crap) 'Activate My Heart.'   Now, a mere two weeks later, another track has surfaced, and it is - somewhat troublingly - quite good indeed.  How are we supposed to determine whether you are any good or not, Miss Kills?  And, without this knowledge, how can we possibly continue living as though there is ANY CERTAINTY IN THIS WORLD?

This whole buzz campaign could actually help you out down the line, we suppose, since - thanks to "the blogs" and such - you can get feedback on what sounds resonate with the modern pop fan before you commit to a whole album.  Chuck out a few buzz songs and see what sticks, etc... In fact, a savvy record company might mount just this kind of campaign for that exact purpose.  Yes....yes they might.....

Natalia Kills wants you to 'Activate My Heart' - watch the video premeire now!

"I am a woman standing next to a car"
Natalia Kills, the British recording lady whom US audiences may know from her recent gig opening for EFFING ROBYN, has a new song out.

It's ok.

Like, it's not terrible by any means.  But it's also not particularly great.  We went on a whole tangent a couple weeks back about how Jessie J's single sounds like the tuneless R&B garbage that littered the pop landscape a few years ago, when being "authentic" and "street" was more important than a hook, and while 'Activate My Heart' doesn't quite scrape that soul-destroying barrel, it's not a long way off either.

It's kind of like if Rihanna's 'Rated R' album was a little more boring and had a little less budget.

So...there's that then.
